Interfering Substances
Carboxyhemoglobin may erroneously increase oxygen saturation readings. The level of increase
is approximately equal to the amount of carboxyhemoglobin present. Dyes, or any substance
containing dyes, that change usual arterial pigmentation may cause erroneous readings.
